Vilnius introduces a tourist tax from July 1

From July 1, a tourist tax is introduced in Vilnius. All tourists, having arrived to Vilnius, will pay a tax of 1 euro / day. Minor tourists and invalids are exempt from tax. And before the beginning of 2019, large groups of tourists were also released.

The city government believes that this measure will help the city replenish the treasury, and consequently there will be an opportunity to improve the infrastructure for the city's guests.

The collection of a new tax is provided to companies that provide accommodation services. However, it is not included in the cost of housing, and will be paid separately, when you check into a hotel or a rented apartment.

According to preliminary estimates, the new tourist tax in 2019 will yield an income of up to 2 million euros.
